Caring for Your Vintage Cookie Jars
Never put your cookie jar in the dishwasher. Vintage or new, especially if you are unsure of the finish. Learn from my mistake, cookie jars can crack in the dishwasher.
Try not to display your jars where they will get grimey or dirty. You don't want to have to clean your cookie jars too often.
Dust your cookie jars with a small soft paint or make up brush. You don't want to let the dust build up.
You can wash your cookie jar in warm soapy water if it is completely glazed. Wipe the cookie jar very gently with a very soft cloth or sponge and rinse.
Never soak your vintage cookie jar in water if it is not glazed or if it is cold painted. You can wipe it gently with a soft cloth, dampened with lukewarm water. Be very careful of the painted areas as the cold paint can be rubbed off easily.
Let the cookie jars air dry in a safe, flat area, not the drainer, and you can place paper towels or newspapers or both, under the cookie jar.
